The molecular orbital theory is applied to the treatment of the hyperconjugation in α‐and β‐pyrrolenines, the so‐called desmotropes of pyrrole. The results obtained are listed. Reseonance energies in both pyrrlenines are found to be in agreement with that of normal pyrrole. It is proposed that the desmotropism of this type corresponds to a kind of degeneracy in which each of the desmotropes may be considered as the unperturbed state.
