The reaction of iodoacetic ester with disodium enolate of succinosuccinic ester has been found to give two C, C‐derivatives, presumably geometrical isomers. Both of them have been isolated as crystalline substances. The oily product from which these crystalline substances had been removed, has been found to consist mainly of an unsaturated substance resulted from the catalytic decomposition of one of the C, C‐derivatives. Characterisation and cleavage of these substances led to interesting results.
