The accounting office is knee‐deep in documents trapped in a seemingly endless cycle of approval and verification; outgoing invoices have backed up in the mail room again; several administrative departments, each handling basically the same paperwork, are at opposite ends of the building. Phones are ringing off the hook in the sales department, even after 5:00 p.m.; the company sales forecasts for the next quarter are late as usual; when they do come, they are rife with errors; and management is spending more time in meetings than would seem to be productive.
