Who is in charge of your firm's relationship with its bank—your company or the bank? Deregulation of the financial services industries has made access to banking services more difficult. And many companies find they have to award credit and noncredit business to retain their banks' goodwill. What is more, the finance function is often no longer the sole gatekeeper for all banking contact. But companies—and finance—can get back in control by using requests for proposals (RFPs) to manage the bank relationship. This article shows how to do that. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
