Reagent‐free, real‐time imaging of unstained, living organisms is performed using a custom built mid‐infrared microscope. The unique combination of a tunable quantum cascade laser as a radiation source with a microbolometer array for detection enables the imaging of a VGA standard 640 × 480 pixel area with a frame rate of 50 frames per second. This performance of the mid‐infrared microscope is exemplified using living Caenorhabditis elegans and Amoeba proteus . Further details can be found in the article by Katharina Haase et al. on pp. 61–66 .
