Abstract Fifteen lupin stubble samples were tested for toxicity using a sheep bioassay and a chemical assay. A good association, in the functional form of a quadratic equation, existed between the results provided by the two assays. Only 16% of the variance of the chemical assay results was not associated with the sheep bioassay results.
