Mercapturic acid urinary excretion was followed in a control group and in chemical workers exposed to toxic and mutagenic compounds. Chemical workers had a significantly lower excretion of mercapturic acid when compared with controls. Smoking effects were not significant statistically. No correlation was found between urinary mutagenic activity and mercapturic acid urinary excretion.
