Systematic reviews provide synthesized evidence to answer explicit research questions, using a transparent and reproducible process to minimize bias. Several guides are available to explain the in‐depth methods involved in conducting a systematic review and subsequent statistical analyses (meta‐analysis) if appropriate. Users of systematic reviews should consider the quality of the review prior to applying its evidence to practice, using a critical appraisal tool. While an in‐depth explanation of these methods is beyond the scope of this article, we present the critical steps of a systematic review and refer readers to these resources for further guidance.
