The increasing rural‐urban migration as well as industrialization and urbanization in the city of Utrecht, Netherlands, has led to overcrowding of the cities. The Moreelse Brug is an under‐construction bridge to aid this problem of crossing over the railway tracks to reach the other side of the city. In this article, we are applying systems engineering to our system of interest: Moreelsebrug and we shall perform various analysis for the same. The V‐model of systems engineering is the backdrop of our approach to apply systems engineering on Moreelseburg and hence, various analysis like environmental, stakeholder and risk were carried out. Functional requirements and Concept of Operations are also thoroughly considered as part of the system architecture. Taking into account the basic idea of systems engineering can help in the enhancement of the bridge's usefulness and ensure improved reliability and long term efficiency.
