The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) Project has used Cognition Cockpit™ to facilitate and implement systems engineering processes such as operational concept development, requirements development and management, interface management, failure modes and effects analysis, hazard analysis, and verification. This paper discusses the structure of the GMT Systems Engineering process, the flowdown of requirements throughout this process, and how Cockpit features are utilized to ensure traceability within the project.
