Program Protection, also known as System Protection, System Security, or Program Security, has been of interest in the United States Department of Defense for many years. The concerns that Program Protection addresses, espionage (keeping sensitive information from getting out) and sabotage (keeping bad materials from getting in), should also be concerns beyond the United States military. Not only should other United States Government agencies worry about these two items for their systems, so should commercial businesses, and so should governments and industries outside of the United States. Because of its pervasive nature, Program Protection should be the domain of systems engineers, who can integrate Program Protection into systems, as well as integrate the various disciplines within Program Protection.
