The paper demonstrates the principles of systems dynamics modelling with the use of a relatively simple model. The model was developed during a course on Systems Dynamics Modelling offered by the School of Public Leadership of Stellenbosch University in 2012. It was intended as an exercise in the application of the modelling techniques and is by no means complete. The model however depicts a good example to illustrate the use of systems dynamics in modelling the complexities of the engineering education dilemma facing South Africa.
