Value stream analysis is a powerful tool for reducing cycle time in a product development enterprise. To date most applications have addressed the manufacturing phase. This paper describes the use of a systems engineering process to apply the concept of value stream analysis to product development and to develop a Product Development Value Stream (PDVS) map.
