A systems engineering process is presented which supports the project lifecycle with improved rigor. The incorporation of specific structure and discipline results in a process which is requirements based, with added value in the planning, execution and reporting of design, implementation, integration, verification, and validation activities. The concept of the validation basis is introduced and discussed. It is a key concept in the development of this process.
