As part of Computing Devices International's journey to become a Six Sigma company and a World Class Systems Engineering organization, numerous process improvement teams have been formed. One such team is the Systems Engineering Best Practices Team, whose charter is to determine and document the best Systems Engineering practices currently being used in the organization. This paper describes the methodology that was used by the Systems Engineering Best Practices Team. The methodology is based on a survey followed by an iterative elaboration of each process in priority order. In addition to defining the process used for each of the best practices, Six Sigma and Systems Engineering metrics were also included. The paper also shares some of the lessons learned through application of this methodology.
