Evolutionary system development is an alternative to the waterfall development model. An ongoing system architecture activity is a consistent feature of evolutionary development models. Using principles from Complexity Science, key features of system architecture for an evolutionary system development are defined. These principles may provide the adaptive flexibility observed in naturally occurring systems.
