This paper describes the techniques used to build and extract information from an architecture model of an as‐built system‐of‐systems. The purpose of this paper is to describe the technical and procedural challenges in building the model using the commercially available systems engineering tool, RDD‐100. The paper also discusses how architecture model information is being used to identify potential cross‐system impacts due to proposed changes. The overall goal is to provide guidance to systems engineers to enable them to successfully develop useful models that support the controlled evolution of a system‐of‐systems architecture.
