Quality function deployment is a methodology to relate what needs to be done to how to do it. The methodology is used to implement the requirements for the systems engineering process established in Military Standard 499B in conjunction with Integrated Product Development teams. Examples are presented for two divergent applications: payload design for an upper atmosphere research satellite and investment strategy design for a division's research and technology program.
