This paper presents a consistent approach to the development of interdisciplinary research plans and transfer of technology from Agricultural Research Service laboratories. Specifically, this case study discusses the implementation of a bait adulticide for an agronomic pest insect (corn rootworm) within an integrated farm system. Prospects for the use of systems engineering within the Agricultural Research Service for research planning, conduct and evaluation are discussed.
