Like pieces in an unfinished jigsaw puzzle, emerging concepts in the workplace can give us a glimpse of what systems engineering will look like in the future. This paper introduces a number of highly interconnected concepts that are emerging in the areas of process, technology, education, metrics, and paradigm shifts. To ensure continued growth in years ahead, it is essential that we use these new concepts as building blocks to architect a systems engineering vision highly suited to the workplace of tomorrow.
