Given a linear regression model relating a measure of student “output” to a measure of student “input” and a measure of a “school characteristic,” a model is presented for the interpretation of the regression coefficients. This model allows explicit predictions of the outcomes of alternate strategies of allocating resources to modify the school characteristic variable.
