This paper focuses on the emerging opportunities available through the Internet to foster collaborative education efforts among institutions of higher education and industry partners. The integration of client‐server and peer‐to‐peer protocols into standard technological platforms can leverage the expertise found at different institutions in order to create a common knowledge‐base repository to unlock the creative potential of engineering educators. This paper introduces such a platform for the construction engineering and management domain called “Virtual Coach.” Descriptions of the major objectives for the platform are presented as well as explanations of the type of interactive exercises to be supported known as situational simulations.
