High birefringence liquid crystals play a key role in tunable THz devices. A fluorinated phenyl‐tolane based nematic mixture was prepared with birefringence >0.3 at around 1THz Several THz phase shifters are further developed toward quarter‐wave and half‐wave plates. Both subwavelength wire‐grids and graphenes are employed as transparent electrodes, which show some unique advantages.
