This paper summarizes power consumption and saving scenarios on mobile platforms, especially associated with refresh rate controls such as PSR and variable frame rate controls, various challenges on video timing synchronizations during PSR exit, and additional requirements to be considered for seamless refresh rate switching and flicker‐free driving at low frame rate. In addition, power reduction mechanism on host side including CPU/GPU will also be discussed.
