This work studies the scattering profile of diffusing sheet for flat panel displays. We carried out an experiment to measure the angular dependence of the out‐coupled light intensity of a diffuser for incident light at various incident angles. We also developed a phenomenological model which can be used to calculate the angular dependence of scattered light intensity by diffusers with variable film thickness for incident light at arbitrary incident angle. The results are very useful in understanding and improving of flat panel displays such as LCD and OLED.
