We investigated the improvement in luminous efficiency of a fluorescent blue OLED with a perforated WO 3 layer. The perforated WO 3 layer was fabricated by using a colloidal lithograph, and was inserted between a transparent anode and organic layers in the OLED device. The current efficiency was increased by around 70% at a current density of 100 mA/cm 2 , due to an enhanced outcoupling of waveguide modes and surface plasmon polaritons.
