Although an in‐plane‐switching display mode has been known to show excellent image qualities, further improvement of them has been still required in a display market. As well known, a rubbing method is one of the factors to degrade the image quality, and so alternative methods should be investigated. In this paper, we choose a photo‐alignment (PA) method as the alternative and the solution of an image sticking problem arising from the weak anchoring nature, which impedes practical use of the method, is investigated by applying a polymer‐surface‐stabilized method to a PA method.
