In 2003, WLICC agreed to voluntarily reduce FCs emission to 0.82MMTCE by 2010. To achieve the target, improvement of abatement efficiency, development of cost‐effective FCs massive abatement technology, adoption of substitute gases and increase of abatement devices installation were carried out. As a result, the emission in 2010 was reduced to 1.75 MMTCE which is almost double the target as the processed glass area was almost the double of the forecasted value.
