A 720‐channel, 8‐bit source driver has been developed for high resolution and high refresh‐rate applications. A source synchronous point‐to‐point interface has been adopted. The timing relationship between the received clock and the received data is calibrated and configured in the timing controller (TCON). This simplifies the implementation of the source driver as the sensitive DLL or CDR circuits are not required in the source driver. The source driver is implemented in a 0.15μm 1.8V/16.5V high‐voltage process. The achieved data rate is 2.5Gbps. It is applicable to a 240Hz FHD panel or a 120Hz 4K2K panel.
