Recent research has suggested that individuals who plan for retirement are more successful in coping with the transition than those who fail to plan. Continuation in meaningful life activities can lead to greater self‐fulfillment in a retiree's newfound leisure time. Resources available to assist people in life/career planning have often neglected the aspect of planning for leisure, while resources that do address the aspect of leisure usually fail to describe the leisure planning process. This article illustrates the leisure planning process by describing various aspects of goal setting and action planning.
