The SHPA Code of Ethics recognises and highlights the valued role of hospital pharmacists in the provision of health care in an ever changing and constantly evolving healthcare system in Australia. The development of codes of ethics especially in relation to pharmacy is overviewed. The Code reflects the contemporary ethical principles of bioethics in the context of medicine supply and use in Australian hospitals. (non-author abstract)
