A modification of the “sand” method devised by Schuster & Mischke has been demonstrated to be reliable in distinguishing between the head‐retentions of various beers. As the technique is also very simple in operation it is recommended for routine control purposes and for making inter‐laboratory comparisons on bottled beers.
