The following varietal constants (A values) are proposed for use in the extract prediction equation, E = A ‐ 11 N + 0·22 G: Maris Badger, 113·0; Maris Baldric, 111·0; Pallas 109·5; Swallow, 112·0; Union, 111·5; Wisa, 112·0. Tentative proposals for other new varieties are: Boreham Warrior, 109·5; Cambrinus, 109·5; Europa, 111·0; Mentor, 111·0; Maris Concord, 110·0. In addition, the following are suggested for the new Cambridge winter varieties: Maris Puma, 109·5; Maris Otter, 112·0.
