Confirmation has been obtained for the existence of a direct relationship between total nitrogen of Proctor barley and coarse extract of its malt. Furthermore, it is concluded that the inclusion of 1,000‐corn weight in extract‐prediction equations for this variety is unnecessary and leads to less accurate results.
