A bed of hops, formed on a slowly‐moving endless perforated belt, is continuously extracted by means of a countercurrent of boiling wort, the spent hops serving to filter the hot break from the boiled wort. Even at its present early state of development, this equipment has been used to produce acceptable beers by continuous extraction of the bitter substances from the hops with efficiencies comparable with those obtained from conventional boiling.
