The chromatostrip method was applied to the fractionation of degradation products obtained by oxidation or heating of lupulones and humulones. The chromatograms produced by this method revealed that the oxidized products of lupulones gave five fractions other than original lupulones and there were four fractions other than original humulones in the case of oxidized products of humulones. Lupuloxinic acid and lupulenol were not produced on the autoxidation of lupulones, but δ resin was produced from humulones. It was also recognized that δ resin was composed not of a single substance but of several components. Humulones were shown to be more stable to heat than lupulones.
