In the course of sub‐cultivation from 1936 to 1959, Acetomonas capsulata has lost the property of producing ropiness from dextrin, except when ethanol is simultaneously present. It also now produces water‐soluble red‐brown pigment on glucose and fructose, this having possibly escaped notice in earlier studies.
