The nature of corrosion is stated and a brief description given of the electro‐chemical theory of corrosion. Factors influencing the rate of corrosion include humidity, atmospheric pollution, dust pollution, concentration cells, dissimilar metals and carbon dioxide concentration. Methods of controlling corrosion by the use of paint, cathodic protection, etc, are described.
