The wilt‐tolerant hops D1, D3 and J2 were selected for trial from the 1956 crop, and the results confirm those of previous seasons that D1 and D3 are in general acceptable as replacements for Fuggles up to at least 25% of the normal hop grist, and in many cases up to 50% replacement. On the other hand, previous results have indicated that J2 was also a hop suitable for replacement at the 25% and 50% level, but this season it was not so readily accepted even at the lower level. It was again evident that this hop has an alpha soft resin content little, if any, higher than Fuggles. OF27, a wilt‐sensitive, mosaic‐sensitive hop, was also included in this season's trial, but it was not wholly acceptable even at 25% replacement.
