After extraction with petroleum ether, the resins are dissolved in methanol and aliquots of the solution are used (a) for direct gravimetric determination of total resins, and (b) for polarimetric determination of “humulones” after decolorization by percolation through charcoal. The results accord closely with those obtained by the Ford & Tait method.
