In a simple and rapid method for the determination of traces of lead in beers which does not involve the use of a centrifuge, the evaporated beer is dry‐ashed, dissolved in hydrochloric acid, and the lead estimated colorimetrically in nessler tubes by addition of sulphuretted hydrogen water or sulphide solution in presence of ammonium citrate and potassium cyanide. Results obtained are comparable with those obtained by the Reference Method (this Journal , 1953, 136).
