Kieselguhr, soiled after use as a beer filter aid, could be profitably reclaimed for further service. An experimental method of recovery is outlined, with a number of laboratory trials, each employing a different cleansing agent. Of the possible treatments, those employing alkali are preferred, and for simplicity and ease of working a cold procedure with 1% sodium silicate appears to be most convenient. The degree of cleansing accomplished is ascertained by the analysis of a number of the recovered kieselguhrs, and the results obtained are commented upon.
