When it is desired to reduce the degree of infection at bottling to a level safely controllable by pasteurization, use in the filling machines of a soaking solution containing didecyldimethylammonium bromide (l in 2,500) and a polyethylene‐glycol non‐ionic agent (0.5%) gives satisfactory results.
