Descriptions are given of brushing and brushless bottle‐washing machines, several types of each being discussed and their characters compared. Counter‐pressure and balanced counter‐pressure fillers are described, crowning devices are discussed, and the principles of operation of spray and vapour pasteurizers are dealt with in some detail. In each case the items of plant concerned are well known and an attempt is made to give a general idea of the principles involved in their design and operation, and the variations—where such exist—from one make of plant to another.
