The characters of the new hops are described in detail. They are symptomless carriers of mosaic disease, but are more susceptible to Downy Mildew than is Fuggle. They have a P.V. higher than in ordinary commercial varieties, and brewing trials carried out in 1945 and 1948 showed that, in 11 out of 13 breweries, they were probably acceptable as brewing materials when used in 10–30 per cent , blend with other hops. Rooted sets are available.
