Summary A new method for the experimental propagation of bryophytes involves drying the gametophytes, grinding them to a fine powder, and sowing the powder on native or other kinds of soil. The method is easy and rapid, and results in regeneration of normal morphology. The method can be applied to studies of systematic relationships among congeneric species, ecotypic differentiation, and competition.
