Summary Contrary to what has been asserted in a recent paper, the works of Asso, Aublet, Grimm, and Forsskâl remain sources of valid binomials and are not to be rejected as “non‐Linnean,” although the latter's ‘Flora aegyptiaco‐arabica’ poses indeed some problems yet to be resolved. The second sentence of Art. 23.6(c) is inappropriate and misleading, and should better be deleted.
