Summary The perennial species of Linanthus have been regarded as members of a number of different genera in the Polemoniaceae, the most notable being Leptodactylon, Linanthus , and Linanthastrum. A reexamination of the characters used in taxonomic treatments of this species complex, plus a consideration of new or as yet little considered characters suggests that these species are best included in Linanthus. The genus Linanthastrum is rejected herein based on its original circumscription.
