The series comprises 10 patients with hepatosis of pregnancy, 22 with pre‐eclampsia and 10 healthy pregnant patients, whose serum gamma‐GT levels at examinations during the third trimester of pregnancy were compared with the results of other liver function tests or enzymes. The gamma‐GT level was elevated in 50% in hepatosis of pregnancy and aminotransferases and AFOS in 80–90% at the same time. In pre‐eclampsia gamma‐GT was elevated in 2 cases (9%). Gamma‐GT determination has not appeared more sensitive than other tests in the diagnosis of cholestasis, hepatosis of pregnancy. On the other hand the results do not reduce its importance in the early diagnosis of liver cell damage and in the follow‐up of that pathologic process.
