A Juin knife was reworked and discarded at Yandan Creek. The reworking sequence is reconstructed and described. A review of information concerning Juin knives suggests that their function within Aboriginal society was social or ritual rather than economic. It is suggested that the stoneworker at Yandan either lacked skill in the technique of backing or intentionally destroyed the knife, probably the latter.
